About the Callan Method
Teachers at St. Nicholas College use The Callan Method, which has been shown to be a very effective way of teaching English as a second language; it is used all over the world.
The aim of The Callan Method is to enable students to be proactive in the learning process by answering the wide range of questions put to them during the lessons. In this way grammar is painlessly absorbed, and vocabulary broadened, step by easy step. There is no time to be bored by complex, dry, conventional methodology; The Callan Method has been proven to increase learning speed by up to four times.
How the Callan Method works
The Callan Method intends to get students very actively involved in the learning process, thus ensuring that students use their time effectively and make use out of it. The structure of the programme used by the Method has twelve stages each of which ensures that students learn grammar gradually. The way the course flows is that the teacher asks a range of questions and students give answers to them. This way students are encouraged to focus on simple things and basics of the language rather than struggling with complexities. As the purpose of the Callan Method is to make students speak, classes tend to improve and stimulate memory of students.
